etched nameplates

As an alternative to embossing, etched nameplates are an ideal solution to both labeling products and increasing your company's brand recognition with the addition of attractive designs such as your logo. Etched nameplates are highly resistant to dents and scratches and offer even full-color logos the ability to withstand harsh conditions over time such as wear, chemical abuse, temperature extremes, sunlight, and weather. And unlike embossing, in the chemical etching process, the production of the image or copy will not generate burrs, coining, or unnecessary internal and external stress. This is true on virtually any ferrous and non-ferrous metal, without the need for either chemical or physical manipulation of the material being manufactured.

Etched nameplates are typically constructed of aluminum, stainless steel, or brass. Aluminum nameplates are an economical solution in commercial applications where permanency is required. Stainless steel nameplates are most often used in applications requiring permanency in high temperature environments such as food processing, and offer additional durability. Brass nameplates are ideal for their elegant, natural beauty in marking products associated with attractive, high quality parts.

The etching process begins with your design. With over 70 years in the business, Eastern Etching and Manufacturing has extensive printing industry experience and offers a variety of in-house services allowing shorter lead-times and the elimination of additional costs often associated with subcontractor outsourcing. Our in-house Prepress Department uses the most advanced software and hardware technologies to manufacture the necessary designs from existing samples, schematics, computer-generated art work, or original drawings allowing your nameplates to be marked with letters, numbers, or highly detailed designs such as logos.

After the design template is complete, the label or tag is then masked with the template so that acids can be applied to dissolve the non-masked area, creating extremely detailed recesses in the shape of the design. The etched region can then be filled with durable enamels in a variety of colors, and then baked for permanency. As an option, lamination can also be applied for additional protection from chemicals, UV light, and abrasion, depending upon the specific application. Your customized nameplates may then be attached in a variety of ways including by tabs, rivets, welding, or adhesives.

Eastern Etching and Manufacturing offers both small and large production runs as well as a large variety of additional services. Please feel free to contact us to find out how Eastern Etching and Manufacturing can exceed your expectations in service, quality, reliability, and performance.
